What year of R1 and in what way?
In the twisties any year of R1 will be faster.
Straight line the 04s are looking to be mighty fast. 176hp+176kg= Be prepared to clean your saddle!

You're pretty much talking 2 different kinds of bikes. IIRC, the 1100xx is more tourer. The R1 is pure supersport. Not quite an "exact" comparison if someone were to make one.

The XX was designed to be a top end bike. It was designed to be the fastest bike on the market. Beyond high speed runs the XX doesnt reallly compare to todays litre sportbikes.

The R1 would be a better all around bike. But dont be sucked in by Yamaha's HP claims. They measure HP at the crank, not the tire.

Seening no one has an '04 for testing we only have yamaha to belive in. Yamaha seems rather reluctant to release hp numbers in the first place.

THAT'S WHY SUZUKI RULES!!!!!! muahahahaha

j/k But I will admit, even though the R1 still looks the same as ever, I do wanna see some NUMBERS on the new "bad boy" that is supposed to take over the GSXR1000's spot.

I think it looks better than ever. Certainly better than the 03 Gixxer. Acctually out of all the Liter bikes I think its tops. The one thing I'm wondering is if Suzuki will release a new GSXR-1000 for '05?

Depends on who's riding it and on what kind of track.

Re: Is the honda CBR1100XX quicker than a Yamaha R1?

I own a 1987 600 Hurricane. I know it's not fast compared to a modern bike but Its in good shape and I like it. An upgrade will soon be needed but for now it's a good transition from the woops of a mx track to the street. I'll keep this bike but I will soon add a GSXR 600 to my collection( an 99 YZF350/02 YZ125/87 CBR. Speed is in my blood and I was raised building big block Chevys, but a bike is a world of it's own. My Mustang runs low 11s and my buddies R1 beats me by 1 1/2 seconds. I have never been on anything as fast as that bike. I know there are faster but I don't care. 170 mph was as fast as I wanted to go, and there was still more. Dammit man.
