2005 grand prix gtp compG

I have a 2005 Pontiac grand prix gtp comp G that has no check engine light on and idles fine but at 2000 rpm the boost gauge is maxed out and has very low power. Any suggestions?

I guess it's possible but the converter was replaced about 2 years ago. I would think it would last longer than that. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Simple check is this:

Get car to normal operating temp.....

From a dead start, lay into it, if it revs up to 3K with no power and doesn't shift stop......

Now from a dead start, LIGHTLY accelerate.....if the vehicle shifts and gets up to speed, it's usually the cat....

Thanks. It was a clogged cat. I got that fixed. Now I need to figure out why it burnt up so quickly.

If it was an aftermarket cat, not all cats are alike.

This guy explains it better than me:
