Question on CMC diecast
Hello,
I would like to any paint problem on CMC models? I want to quit my scale models and changing my hobby by collecting precision detail diecast model. I mainly in love with Mercedes Benz and found that most diecast in detail come by a name CMC diecast. And about to jump into this brand, one of my good friend stop me. He told me CMC diecast or even Auto art got the same problem He told me the paint will bloated and crack, because the metal below it rust. I was shocked to hear that. He keep telling me his China customer ask him to repair the paint job on his 300SLR, the body and chassis separate apart... I mean who will want to pay that much money on a diecast and become a rust bucket after few years, so I need to know is it true...or he just bluffing me? Thanks.... |

Re: Question on CMC diecast
bah...I have some since their arrival on market and they are all still in stunning condition. dunno how they could rust being not iron and not in contact with water.usually.neither think the german quality appliedto chinese buildup canforget a metal primer before paint.neither 30yrs old burago are rusty.
the real problem is only to find theme at affordable prices.some as the sskl are not so easy to find around.is the same as gmp models. they become even more rare aftercompany closure.

Re: Question on CMC diecast
Pah! What rubbish! Paint jobs are amazing and you only get rust through chips and exposure to air and water anyway!
I have the Ferrari Transporter & 250 SWB and love them. |

Re: Question on CMC diecast
Your friend is a hater! haha. I purchased an SLR by CMC in Ireland...transported it in my hands on a plane to Fort Lauderdale, FL...it was in the box mind you. lol. The only issue I have had is with the metal transfer emblems. One if lifting. The model is beautiful though. Just amazing. Has a real nice weight to it as well. There s a video floating around about their paint and body practices. The SLR is molded out of copper I believe.
