Reverse Sensor Adjustment
Hello
I have a 2003 Olds Silhouette with 160000K Is there a way to troubleshoot the reverse sensors on the rear bumber? All I get is a red blinking light on the light bar when reversing. It does not light more than one led no matter what I do. Any help is great. Thanks Paul |

Besides the blinking sensor light is there a (graduated) audible warning beeper?

Re: Reverse Sensor Adjustment
The red blinking light is an indication that something is wrong with the park-aid system. It is a totally separate system from the rest of the vehicle and there is a procedure for getting the controller to tell you where the problem is (the controller is in the right rear side panel). Do a search for park-aid diagnostics and you will probably find the info you need.

Found it:
Your Cadillac is equipped with a very good on-board diagnostic system capable of reading out the stored trouble codes. Contained here is information and instructions for entering the onboard self-diagnostic mode. Master Index

Re: Reverse Sensor Adjustment
Yes, it's the same. They put those in all makes and models. It is not a gm specific unit. Also, it being a separate unit makes it easier to buy replacements. Do a google search. You'll find the info, I just quickly grabbed that from a Cadillac site in about 10 seconds. The info is out there.

Re: Reverse Sensor Adjustment
The diagnostic connector is an extra wire that is dangling free from the control unit itself. The control unti is on the passenger side of the van in the rear in front of the rear wheel well. That should get you the info you need.

Re: Reverse Sensor Adjustment
Is there a way to bypass the affected sensor? So just use 3 instead of 4?
Thanks Paul |
