Re: Silverado burnout question
No doubt. lol
I can, from a dead stop, just stomp mine to the floor and leave black marks for about 6 feet both sides..I need a burnout pic too I guess..

I remember reading about the whole torque management thing when the new Hemi engine came out in the dodge trucks. They figured out a wire to splice into under the hood that eleminated the torque management system. Didn't cause any MILs to come on and didn't seem to cause any problems with the vehicle other than keeping fresh tires on the back end. Think there would be a cheap fix like that for our trucks? My truck will do a burnout, but it isn't anything spectacular. Oh well with my driving habits that's probably a good thing.

Re: Silverado burnout question
My 04 Z71 Ext. 5.3 will smok'm in reverse but not in 1st or drive. No matter what I try, reverse is the only way to make it happen.

Re: Silverado burnout question
Well, me and some friends went out tonight, and I wanted to see if I could power brake my truck. To my dismay I could only barely brake the tires loose. Same symptoms. it reaches approx 2000rpm and stops. This after i had installed a cold air intake, headers, functional cowl hood, and hypertech PPIII. Damn this torque management.
If we feel like riding the engines hard and ruin tires we should be allowed to do so. I may just have to look into selling the hypertech and go with that nelson tune Ol' jeverett is getting.

Re: Silverado burnout question
i did some experimenting of my own. i found that when i powerbrake it the rpm wont go above a certain mark but the tires will spin no problem at all(maybe enuff to get a little smoke goin), but once i let off the brake the rpms shoot up and the tires smoke like crazy almost instantly. its quite sexy. However, torque management is still GAY

Re: Silverado burnout question
I Have a 2004 GMC SIERRIA 4.8 1500 regular cab, I am running Long Tube Headers and True Dual Cat Back Exhaust. But from a dead stop.... without Brake Torque it just sitting still and Mashing it I can smoke the tires off for as long as I wanna hold the pedal down. Or I can coast along around 20 to 25 miles and Mash it and Smoke the tires off.

Re: Silverado burnout question
this is a 2004 posting,,,,,, ancient..
smoking tires / burn outs to be created easy this can mean the tires are very bad, or you drive it with no gas in truck light load will cause this effect. if a single cab type less wt on rear. if you have an open diff or a locker not locking that will also do it. very common . too much air in tires also . |
