Could you...
If one of the team reps needed a driver and they asked you right now....AS IS....to race in the next rally, could you do it, and if so...how would you do?

I'd do it in a heartbeat! And what do you mean how?

If you did, in fact, race...how would you do in the race. (Retire, Win, exc...)

I would sit in the car, drool for about 4 hours. Start the engine, give some gas, feel the power, drool some more. Laugh friendly at my co-driver, and pass out.
It would be an awesome experience. Consequently I would be disqualified for obstructing the track. To be serious, I need to learn how the car handels first (Also need to know how to interpret pace notes). When I got the feeling I would race flat out. Win or loose, I will be fast |

To answer in a serious manner...
Well, I'd need to improve my driving skills a lot. Learning breaking points, throwing the car around etc. etc. But if I could do just that and practice, I'd do pretty much OK, well that's what I like to think. Once a helmet on my head, it's flat out. At least in karting it is. Rally driving of course is a different story. IF you ever have the opportunity to co-drive with a professional driver, you'd know what it will be like. If you're not used to it, it's pretty terrifying. |

If the opportunity arrose I'd take it for sure. However there is no chance I'd be at all quick and would very likely bend the car rather severly if I tried to be fast.
Face it, if guys like Valentino Rossi and Martin Brundle can't do more than a handfull of stages, far from the pace, before planting it in the weeds, what chance would regular drivers like us have? I'd make sure I took lots of detail pictures though! |

Here for the pussy, man.

If it were a New Zealand stage I'd finish and do reasonably well- but anywhere else I'd crash- and love every second of it

Hehe, If it's a tarmac rally that should be really nice, because these WRCcars, really stick on the road like flies on a cowpie.
I would LOVE to do it, but I think I will be endlessly behind the others! But this would be an experience to never forget! I mean I get a huge rush of going 60 (@karting), what would it be at 130, throwing your car around corners and using handbrake turns, I would be sorry for the word, don't have such a big vocabulary "orgasming" all the way ! PS . what would be the right word to put here ? Peace, VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAR Olivier |
