Orginal BMW Workshop Manuals

Hello people,

I need to know if anyone know where I can buy a E36 Original BMW Workshop Manual. I have found the book on microfiche and the vender claims that it has never seen a paperback and is only on microfiche.

Thanks,
Mike

Thumbs down Not Suprising

It would not suprise me!
The company I work for has a Bosch agency(as well as others) and a lot of the service manuals we have were never issued on paperback. Only on mirofiche or CD.
Seems to be the German way.

You may have some luck if you ring up BMW themselves. Try ringin up the main HQ instead of you're countries HQ. If you giv em a bollockin they normally manage to get their arses in gear and will help you. If not, get an independant workshop manual, they will more than likely be near identical to the workshop manual anyway

Service Manuals

Is there a specific reason you want a factory - dealer workshop manual?

Or are you just looking for a decent workshop manual?
If so you can get them here - http://www.bmwworld.com/books/service_manuals.htm

Hope this helps

My main reason for the factory workshop manual is my experience with the Bently book. It seems that it lacks in certain areas. Just and example is the rear wheel bearing on the on the E36/46. A specialized presss tool would be needed in order for the proper replacement and removal. In the Benltly Manual it makes light mention of this. The Factory Manual is more specific on tools the job will require.

I will try writing and e-mail to BMW AG for the books. For the most I am currently working on a home auto shop and will be building a high performance workshop out of a four car garage. The starter is a 1992 325is coupe.

I have replaced most of the suspention (with high performance aftermarket) and have come to the point where I will be rebuilding the engine (which just has past 140,000 miles). So I feel the factory manual might be of a certain value to me.

In addition we have an E36 M3 and we are searching for te E46 328i and are currently working on obtaining an E46 M3.

Thanks,
Mike
