Question boss chaos se2500d protection light on

ok... so i'm completely new to this whole stereo system thing so i'm completely lost. i have a just put in a pioneer head unit with a pioneer 300w 4 channel amp for my speakers and a boss chaos se2500d for my sub.

speakers sound great running off the 300w amp but i can get anything from the boss amp for my sub. the sub when powered just raises and lowers in a steady rhythm like a heart beat. i've tried multiple subs and they all do the same so i figured it must be related to the protection light on the amp... any body got any ideas what may cause the light to be on?

i have a soldering gun and can do repairs but i don't see anything obviously wrong with the circuit bored. thanks for any help.

Re: boss chaos se2500d protection light on

protection light comes on when:

the impedance of the load is too low (or shorted out)
there is DC offset in the output
unit is overheating

will the sub play on the other amp at all without tripping the protection circuit ?

Re: boss chaos se2500d protection light on

i haven't tried to wire it up to the other amp yet but with the head unit leads and sub unplugged the protection light still comes on when the amp gets powered. the ground and power for both the amps are off a splitters and i ran the remote wire to one amp and a jumper from there to the remote wire connection on the one that is not workin... could any of this be the problem?

you're wiring sounds pretty normal. Make sure that even a strand of wire from ground is not touching the power or vice versa
