Look at it this way. The very large majority of people who can afford to buy the best cars buy German. That to me proves they are the best, without a shadow of a doubt

That's true that if you want a good car for every day and you have enough money (more that 50 000 €), you'll buy a German car... and an Italian one for the WE
But under this price, some people do hesitate between Swedish, other Italian (Alfa, Lancia, etc.), and French car of course.

jsb88 : exact, it's a good summary !
American 4x4 have a very nice looking, particularly the Navigator and Durango.
And European cars are still the best with some japanese one (NSX, Impreza WRX).

People like to be individual, but i think if you let your head rule your heart you will choose a German car more often than not. Every time i think of buying an Integrale, i know its not a sensible choice! An E30 M3, on the other hand, makes a lot more sense even though its not my favoured choice...

I admit i dont know much about American SUV's but when it comes to

Off-road: excluding the Hummer, can anything beat a Range Rover or a Land Cruiser from the States?

On-road: the X5 and Cayenne are head and shoulders above the rest. Are there any American contenders? If there were i have a feeling i'd have heard their names thrown about, and i havent.

If im wrong, educate me
