Man. I am sooooooooooo jealous of your 340! :sun: And I have a couple of questions,

1.Where do you live? Do you know if 340's are street legal in America?

2.How much did that 340 cost you?

Thanx alot, and stay cool :smoka:

and since jsb doenst live in america..ill help my supercar lovin lotus ownin jaguar driving friend out

yes the 340 is legal in the US...just be careful about the tires..they might be a lil to slick for some states. But for the most part it is legal...just dont test is in a crash enviroment...first of all ...it doesnt have doors or a roof or a hood...so it wouldnt be easy getting out...

second of all

I DONT WANNA SEE A CRASHED LOTUS >>EVER!

LOL jsb88. Do you know how sickening that website is to car enthusiasts like me? Why would anyone want to make a website like that? Hope one of your cars doesn't end up on there.
:silly2: By the way, what's your career if you don't mind

Im retired, but heres my career life anyway...

21 years old (After University)
Joined the British Army, and rose to the rank of warrant officer, first class.

29 years old
discharged myself after contract ended, and went into business.
First job, I ran the IT department (if you could call it that)
rose up the ranks, and eventually was the "Second in command" at that company.

41 years old
Went to advise and for a short term work with the day to day running (basically telling the company which way to head) large companies across the world.

51. made enough money to let me retire, and get a pension of half my salary when I left the smaller company.

52... Sitting here with you, retired and happy!

I hope this explains all

If I remember correctly, you said your 340 was made as a kit by a Lotus dealer, or some similiar story. Could you post any pictures of that, just so I know beyond a reasonable doubt that you are for real. We have had some people who are fake, and I don't like being 'taken', so forgive any hostility

Anyway, I really love Lotus's too. I hate how modern 'exotics' are so heavy. A Lamborghini should not be nearly 2 tons. And the Enzo should not weigh the same as my moms car, considering they have similiar volumes, but my moms car has 4 seats, and is crap.

I would have to say that my favorite lotus of all time is the Lotus 11. It is so small, and has such voluptous bodywork, it is amazing. Lotus even returned my email when I queried about more information, giving me the phone number for a guy who wrote a book on them. That was quite unexpected, I must say.

My favourite Lotus has always been, and will always be, the Super 7! That thing is the essence of a sports car!

The 340 comes close, but it just doesn't have that... S7 character...

I like the M250, but last I heard they were delaying that project for developement/money.

Inquire to Lotus. Job no. 18576.
It was not a kit, just taken from their spare parts roster.
It was supplied to me by Hayden Lotus in cambridge, cambridgeshire.
The mechanic who owed me a favour was John Oswald.
What do oyu want pictures of? Hayden Lotus shut down soon after, and the parts are now a car, and had no real Lotus boxes.

Aha, so my memory was not 100% correct. I guess everyone was right....
I guess I wanted pictures of a stripped down 340.
Actually, I really want to see some pictures of the cool bits. IE, aren't the side panels a translucent plastic? Some pics of that would be cool.

Cbass: I agree, the Super7 is pretty amazing. I recently saw a Superperformance take on it. They are so small, and perfect looking. But, I don't think they look as good as the 340. And Lotus doesn't make them anymore (Caterham does).
Still, "back in the day", they were cheap, and super-fun, which makes them perhaps the perfect vehicle. And the engine is so far back its like a front mid engine carmakers are swooning about so much these days.
I guess there is just something "special" about the 340R that attracts me.
