Re: 60 red years tribute - 612 Scaglietti Sessanta
Chris,
Great work on the roof and wheels. If you have any extra copies of the roof made, I'd certainly buy 2 from you. I plan on building two more 612's with the glass roofs. I also want to put the 20-inch Challenge style rims on my cars (which a lot of the Sessantas now have), but haven't been updated by the aftermarket people. Re: 60 red years tribute - 612 Scaglietti Sessanta
An update!!! I continue to work on this when time allows although its long overdue for any 60th anniversary tribute . More modifications have been made to the interior. The rear of the front seats has been reworked after finally getting hold of a good reference pic and I've also made the attachment for the seat belt . The dash has been extensively modified; I didn't like the air vent detail on the original part so I fabricated my own by shaping styrene tubing in a motor tool to produce the vent housing, a mold was made and then several resin copies. A jig was then made to produce the vent detail and these were inserted into the housings. The top of the dash was reshaped slightly to appease myself according to reference pics and I added a speaker grill which was created by punching a disc out of some Renaissance photoetched hex mesh with a punch and die set. I've also recreated the Bose head unit with discs of styrene of various sizes and thickness using the same punch/die set.

YAYYYYY! An update! Nice work...those seats and air vents look great. The stock air vents are very crude.

Very nice work. Those wheels look great. I dont like the 612 to much since
its so huge in real life, but this version is pretty. Best, Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2009 model contest and photography/art display-Chicago April 25th 2009 at Continental Autosport Ferrari/Maserati |

Re: 60 red years tribute - 612 Scaglietti Sessanta
Some progress to report at last!
This was put on the back burner for a while, it took a bath in brake fluid as it was given a few too many coats of primer. Unfortunately the resin air vents were too delicate and the brake fluid desintegrated them. Therefore I had to go back a few steps make those details again, this time I've taken a few shots of the process. And since I'm LONG overdue in finishing this for the 60th tribute, I've added a few more details which I was previously going to dismiss for the sake of a swifter build. Resin copies of air vents. Original master made from styrene tube turned and shaped in a motor tool. Jig for vent fins. Reworked detail in drivers footwell. I assume its some sort of changeable pad to protect from wear & tear. Revell's detailing for the large Bose speaker on the rear parcel shelf is total bobbins, so I played around with shaping some from photoetched mesh. It was very tricky but turned out better than I expected. Rear brakelight housing mostly carved from single block of styrene. The part in the centre is there to support the mesh and to simplify positioning and attachment. It is made by pressing the mesh into 2k filler to create a positive copy. More speaker grills made from the same etched mesh. Reworked the rear seat belt fastenings. More to follow soon!!!!!!!!

Good to see this one back!
That jig you made for the air-vents is a great idea! I will keep that in mind for sure.
