Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Thanks guys for being patient with this build. Looks like I am not making any significant progress on this.
I supposed the greatest impediment is the weather; the winter months are bloody cold, I really cannot find any motivation to push myself go forward. Having said that, here are some updates... Made various connectors using thin electrical wire and metal tubings. I am trying to see if I can make steering shaft using some tuned parts... But my skill isn't up to the challenge yet... Now that I have a great information of reference photos, I am digging deeper into my grave... What to do, what to do... At least I can see what I would want to replicate and it is very helpful to have exact photos of everything! It looks convincing enough to me... I think it will work for what I want to achieve! Looking at what I have done so far, I still have tons of work still left to do. Again, finding a motivation is very tough and I have thought about just wrapping up this build and call it a day... Seeing how the completed models always struggling with the clean fit, I had to test fit mine... It looks okay so far, but I am 100% positive that once the paint goes onto the surface, things won't line up and will show gaps between the parts. Some fix up on damaged CF decals (A)... Unfortunately, I have redo the flat coating work on them. If you look at carefully, the side body molding has been slightly melt! Luckily, it still aligns fine with the body parts. Moving on the the interior... The seats are bit shiny, so I will have to tone them down. This will do! Just enough to show that there has been some work went into it!

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Ah, thank you guys for the motivation boost!
Well, you ever felt that building a kit as a hobby no longer feels like a hobby? It starts to become work and you get stressed because things don't go right? This is where I have a problem with; if a hobby is no longer enjoyable, why continue? Not saying we should give up and stop, but I think this is when you stop building and do something else till you get the "urge" back to build again... Even it takes months. I think it is important to find the "urge"!

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Even though I was stressed out, I managed to get things moving forward...
A close shot of the engine bay looking through the engine cover... I will have to concentrate making this view looking clean and nice. I manage to start the work of chassis floor. Nothing really special, I just covered with different grades of C/F decals. I ended re-doing the carbon backing for the seat because it didn't come out right(A). See, when you have to repeat things because you didn't execute it right at the first time, it really becomes pain... Looks slightly better... Using the Crazy Modeler's P/E set, I simply constructed the pedals. Seats require some flat coating to tone down the shine... The floor is finally attached. I used 5 min epoxy to secure the chassis floor to the frame. I like using epoxy as it keeps things cleaner then CA glue... Added small details by dipping the coil wrapped pipes to an enamel. Now moving onto the rear suspension work.... Acus-Tion tune metal parts and P/E sets(A) are being used with the existing Tamiya parts(B)... Adding small bolts... I like these tune metal parts, but they seem too clean for my taste... Adding bushings to the suspension arms. I think they are out of scale, but regardless the left side arm looks better than the right! More metal tuned bolts were supplied to complete the arm.

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Please don't laugh, I tagged along with my wife for shopping over the weekend and we stopped by at the local IKEA to buy things. And guess what I found for $2.99?
This! Look closely! I think this is to cover up the frying pan to prevent hot oil spilling out during cooking, but I see some potential use for "grille" applications for our hobby! I just temporarily made some plates to cover the dashboard... I think they look quite good for what I want to achieve. And for $2.99, I have enough materials to cover multiple cars. I will redo this again with bit more accuracy in size and pattern. Made the active suspension parts and heat shields... But unfortunately, they don't look good. I mean, They look HORRIBLE! It is probably because I eye-balled the heat shielding plate and cut it without measuring. Then I roughly sanded without giving too much thought to bring out some metal shine. Well, I thought they would look good, but they don't... Took about one hour to make these, but I will ditch them... Going back to drawing board and will try again...

Wow. Absolutley amazing.
I have the yellow Enzo kit, and I can see I have a lot to learn before I try building mine. |

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Holy crap...I bought the Revell Enzo a few days ago form a Micheals for about $13...thought it would be a nice easy thing, something to relax while building my Audi...but wow! All the parts...it was crazy. Then I hop on here and look at your beast...holy crap. Here I am complaining 130+ parts overgoes an easy project, and here you are getting down to the bushings in the rear suspension! I wish I had an idea on how to do any of this, this work is incredible! The brakes, the engine, the cockpit oh my! Keep up the amazing work!
Sometimes when I lose motivation, I look around on the forums...its incredible the amount of talent found here...just looking at your carbon fiber makes me what to go get started on my floor! Hope this can maybe help you if you lose motivation... |

Re: 1/24 Tamiya Ferrari Enzo "Build Diary"
Can I please borough some de-motivation from you...and while we are at it - some skills, too? Incredible work. You must be a very patient man to do all this detailing. Fantastic outcome so far.
