Re: FXX...long WIP
You are right up there with your efforts on making this a suprdetailed FXX!
Those airinlets are great. I have the same PE from Lion roar, bought it just for the fans. It's a nice set though. Keep updates coming.

Re: FXX...long WIP
Really great job so far. Thanks for showing us how the new Tamiya weathering kits work and the effects you can get with them...yet another purchase I didn't know I was going to make...;-)>
So will this one be the bare CF version or is this just a warm-up?...;-)> Keep up the great work and thank you for taking the time to share it with the rest of us! Bill p.s. Get a camera with a better Macro function, we're missing half of the incredible detailing you're doing!...;-)>

Re: FXX...long WIP
update for you:
Worked on the wheels nuts a little - PE cover, overlayed by decals, painted clear red Here they are all assembled and ready to go Also finished the brake rotors, all assembled, painted and detailed I have also beek working on the rotors - kit pieces were hollowed, detailed and metal parts added. These will receive brake pads as well Front radiators. Decided not to go with the PE set - rather tried to detail the kit units Also started on dashboard - waiting for some knobs and swiches from Mr. Robrex, otherwise, I started cutting off vents, CF decaling small pieces, etc.. What do you think?

Re: FXX...long WIP
Wow!
Those radiators look great! I'm guessing you used silver from the weathering set C right? Great work! Now, the breakes are truly excellent captured the carbon color right on. I spended a long time doing the wheel nuts for my BMW and thought I got it right... Then I saw yours and well... back to the modeling table

Re: FXX...long WIP
Been following this thread since it started. Awsome work so far, your detailing skills are amazing. From the last post it seems like you got a new camera? If not and you are still stuck without micro, I would suggest that you take the pic from a distance in the best resolution you have then crop the pic in photoshop or whatever. HTH

Re: FXX...long WIP
yeah I am trying to work on the camera set up... I know I just need a better camera anyway.
OrangeR - the wheel nuts are threaded AcuStion aftermarket items. No way would the kit styrene parts look that good. I am sure yours are going to come out awesome - like the rest of your build.

Re: FXX...long WIP
Great work Paul.
I would suggest you reconsider and use the photo-etch on the fans? Although the kit piece looks great how you have painted it, the PE would look that much better IMO and you have super detailed everything else anyway. Also you are planning on displaying the car open aren't you?

Re: FXX...long WIP
Yeah - I guess you are right, I am going to go ahead and scrap these and create new fans from PE.
