** Metro Forum Intro **

Hey guys, i've been around for a little while, and i really kindof feel like i dont know y'all that well, so i figured i'd start kindof an Introductory type of thread, just so we all can get to know each other a bit. I've seen it done in other forums and thought it was cool, so here's my crack at it.

My name's Marcus, im 19, from Michigan.
I own a 93 Camaro (pictured in my signature) and a 96 Geo Tracker (pictured below). I work for the Michigan DNR in the summer time as a State Park Ranger, and am a part time Golf Sales Associate at Dick's Sporting Goods. My best friend Nick just recently purchased a 93 Metro and he and I have plans of making it operational again, so i'll more than likely be around for quite some time

Re: ** Metro Forum Intro **

Hi, names Blake, from Saskatchewan. I bought a '94 geo metro in '96 with 40,000 miles. It now has 110,000 miles still gets outrageous gas mileage and all I've done to the car is rear struts and replace tires. May have to do the brakes soon.

Re: ** Metro Forum Intro **

I'm Jason. Don't own a Geo right now (hope to correct that soon!) but I did own a crappy 93 red 4 d00r hatchback Metro last year. The little 3 banger under the hood was near death due I assume to a burned valve, but I still got 35+ mpg in and around town, 45 or so on the highway at 60-65 mph. I sold it because I got mad at it, the hood flew up, I replaced the hinges and it dodn't work out right so I figured I wasted 20 bucks on the hinges and still needed another whole hood which would have cost me something like 60-70 bucks, and at the time I had like 5 bucks left to my name. I really, really regret selling it, especially now that gas costs 99.9 cents per liter around these parts. My current car, a 1988 Toyota Celica, is only getting mid to low 20's around town and it's starting to hurt. That car is a friggin rustbox, so I'm selling it to my stepfather and hope to buy another Geo with the proceeds from the sale.

I am David and just signed up on this forum about 10 minutes ago. I have been very pleased with my '95 Metro since I bought it new with few exceptions. It has been my 'work truck' since we got a Windstar, which I have been much less than pleased with. It still gets terrific milage and I have only had one potetially catostrofic failure (the bottom timing seal blew out) and one nuisance failure the AC clutch has been out for about 2 years now (you can not buy just the clutch and the whole compressor is $350). I do not count the clutch because my better half burned it up at 25k and it now has over 165k on it now.

Cool new here

hey all.. ..I just bought my first car.. ..an '88 Firefly for $1000

great deal considering it only has 82K on it, (it sat parked for several years).. ..original engine and tranny. body's in great condition except for one spot of rust, on an old ding in the left fender well ($40 part). I just changed the back brake shoes, and think the front pads are *just* on the verge of whining a bit.

Starts great in the cold (it's already -8 celsius, where I am), but it has this low-end power problem. When I'm just beginning to accelerate, it feels like it's gonna stall sometimes, but then it's fine, when I'm not easing it out. If I lead-foot it, it's not a problem. I've been told that it's the carburator.. ..which I've cleaned with little-to-no effect.

anyway, I hope to get/share info with you guys..

Ty

love my metro

have a 94 that I bought 3 years ago for $1200.00 with 95,000 on it all original. she now has 198,000 and I am putting in a jdm motor. can't wait until it's back on the road. dirve this car back and forth to work from Ann Arbor to Toledo everyday, about 85 miles round trip. can go all week on a single tank. I plan on driving it until it won't go anymore. it's a great little car!

Re: ** Gumby_CT Metro Forum Intro **

I have been remiss in my intro - just jumping in and asking for help. This seems to be a lively forum - that is a good thing. People helping people. If I could figure out how to update my profile, I would put the rest of this there.

Name: Gumby Damit
Location: CT=Connecticut just south of Waterbury (if that helps)
Primary Car: 96 Metro 2HB 1L 5sp. Don't know the diff between the LSI or Basic models.
My Other car: 96 F150 XLT 4wd Xcab 5L(302) auto. I found the reason they come with 2 fuel tanks, so you can get back home. 11.5mpg=parked. I'd sell it except for 2 reasons -
1. Who would buy it?
2. I need 4wd to get up (2mi) the very, very steep hill I garden on.

Hobbies: Gardening, computers, shadetree mechanic, tinkering around the house, indoor sports (of course), I LOVE driving my Metro but the F150 really completes my manhood (ha) & I can see the road better. Ok 4 reasons.

Hey, I'm Rob. I'm 19 from Rhode Island and I have a 94 Metro hatchback, 66 VW Bug, and an 89 Mazda B2200 pickup. I used to be on this forum a lot, but I was driving/working on my Bug this summer so I kinda went dormant on here. I will be laying the Geo up for the winter and using the pickup instead, so I hope to get a lot of work done on the Metro before I need it again next fall.
I'm currently a full time student at URI, but I work on weekends as a "backyard mechanic" doing engine, electrical, body, and interior work. This summer, I hope that I can either make this my full time job, or get a job as a machinist/welder at EB.
So far, the little 3 banger has been great, but I need to fix the ignition system, replace the front calipers and brake hose, and make an full exhaust system to replace the one that's rotted out on the car now. I plan on driving my tiny little metro for years and years, since it's just an awesome vehicle. If anyone is in the New England area and needs help with their Metro, let me know, I always like to help out when I can. Also, I'll be looking for parts cars/spare parts so if anyone is selling any, let me know
I'm looking forward to getting back on the forum with everyone!

Peace,
Rob

I'm Andy, the Ragtopguy. I have 2 convertibles you can see in my signature. The Olds is my baby, the Metro my everyday commuter since I drive 100 miles each day. Plus I have a 92 parts ragtop that is almost totally stripped now and will be off to the junkyard soon before my wife goes off the deep end. LOL

I work in the lab at an aerosol specialty chemical manufacturer next to Philly.

As far as my age, well, I'm probably the oldest one on this forum. Let's just say that I was in the USAF during the Nixon era and those crooks weren't as bad as these crooks in DC.

This is a good group, You're never too old to learn more and I certainly have picked up a few things from the people here.
