McLaren 570s

Hi guys I'm back with a brand new project. It's the newest Revell McLaren 570s. I got this from a modelling magazine to make an article about it, so started immediately...

First a look what's inside: A very nice detailed kit from what I can see.

Off course Revell made the wheels too small. And the tyres doesn't look bad at all but they are a bit thick. I'll replace them for Aoshima SSR Professor wheels.

Looking forward to this one too Kris. I'm still trying to decide what colour to go with on mine.

Re: McLaren 570s

This will be cool! I am curious to see if the orange plastic bleeds like red. Great wheel choice!

Re: McLaren 570s

The McLaren is also painted. First a couple layers of grey primer to avoid the orange plastic shining through. And then a few layers of metallic grey. I masked of the body to paint the black areas. I wanted to do them in carbon, but this model needs to be completed soon for an article so I just painted it black. Maybe on a next model I'll add carbon on these areas.

I added the kit supplied carbon decals on the body. They are very nice work with! Just a bit of Sol and a hairdryer and you're done! After this I clearcoated the body.

The wheels are painted a dark metallic grey. And I clearcoated them also.

Re: McLaren 570s

Looking good Kris. Good thing about these cars is, no carbon is an actual feature, you can order them with or without the CF. I'm still debating on doing a carbon delete option or full on CF. The kit only comes with like 5 pieces, to me it needs to be all CF or none.

Looking forward to the finished product.

Re: McLaren 570s

The 570 has tires 225/35 ZR 19 in front and 285/35 ZR 20 rear tires. Revell wheels and tires are pretty accurate as far as the dimensions are concerned.

Re: McLaren 570s

Completed the engine. Nothing special, it will be hidden under the bonnet.

And then I started on the interior. First I painted everything in black. I masked off the black areas and painted red on top of it. After that I painted the details in silver. The back of the seats are painted the same grey as the wheels. The interiorpart is flocked with grey flocking. You can see a little bit of red through, but it won't be seen after it's completed.

Re: McLaren 570s

After completing the interior I wanted to make a photo with the doorpanel. So I assembled the doors and made a photo.

And I painted the leftover engine parts and completed the engine.

And made more progress on the body. I polished the body and I installed most of the clearparts.

Re: McLaren 570s

And it's finished! Putting the body on the chassis was very tricky. I really thought I would damage the whole body cause I needed a lot of force. After all it's sitting perfect but you have to be carefull when you are at this stage yourself!

Here are the final pics:

A lot of pics I know, can't help it.... I just love this model . Revell did a really good job on this one, that's for sure. When you replace the original wheels for some aftermarket wheels or the new Plamoz wheels this can be a really nice model. Everything fitts perfect, but be carefull with the body on chassis mounting. This needs some thinking and time to do it correct. There's just one way to get this done without damaging the body!

Here's a short list of extra's I did:

- 20'' SSR Professor VF1 wheels (aoshima)
- anthracite interiorflocking
- lowered
