1994 idle speed
I have a '94 firefly with the upgraded emissions system (isc motor ect.) and I'm trying to figure out why it's idleing a bit fast (950-1000 rpm). I've recently had to clean out the whole egr system due to the usual clogging, but it was doing this before. The ECT sensor seems fine, and I don't know what could be causing this. all the sensors I can check easily at home seem good. This is getting frustrating! Help!

Re: 1994 idle speed
More than likely you have a slight vacuum leak somewhere. I used a spray bottle with water to find mine. Some use carb cleaner.
Your idle speed motor may also be sticking open. |

Re: 1994 idle speed
how do you do that exactly? I've heard of this, but never done it myself. I have managed to find one leak by accident actually, but I'm pretty sure that no more exist as I've been pretty thorough in looking. As for the ISC motor sticking, I've checked that and it moves fine. I'm totally lost on this one. The last metro I had used the older system for idle speed instead of the ISC motor. I've been having other issues as well regarding 2 recurring trouble codes. ARG! if you have any input, they're code 51 and 46, both are in good working order though. As I said, I'm lost.
