Hood locking pins?

What exactly are hood locking pins? Are they expensive or hard to install? Do you recommend them?

You just have to drill holes in your hood and fit in the hood pins. They are best for thieves who try to steal your car and cant.

Man, I'm confused...
Hood pins are an exterior accessory but, they do hold some security value!

the only draw back (at least I think so) is that you have some silly looking circle things on your hood.
unfortunately, if you like the clean line look...hood pins get in a the way of that goal.

the look the best on carbon fiber hoods.

however, these days, I only see FAKE hoodpins.
They're not real and do not lock the hood.
They are simply held on by double-sided tape.
