K&N engineering quality is questionable - Don't use their products:

Re: intake and exhaust for 04 taco

TRD intakes are made by AFE. I would trust them.
http://www.afefilters.com/IntakeSytemstest.asp#TOY I have no experience with them for your vehicle though. Check on results others have obtained with AFE or TRD intakes. You'd be surprised how little these systems really help with power. Modifying the OEM filter box in conjuction with a TRD or AMSOIL filter oil-impregnated filter probably helps more than the majority of these conical designs. http://128.83.80.200/taco/filter.html http://128.83.80.200/taco/deckplate.html |

Re: intake and exhaust for 04 taco
The Gibson catback stainless exhaust is easy to install provided that you get the correct kit. I have a 2004 prerunner. I received the kit for the srunner and 2wd xtra cab. The difference is in the tail pipe configuration. I did not realize it until I had cut off the oem exhaust. I had to make a bracket that bolted to the rear bumper/frame bolts in order to mount the tail pipe hanger. I had problems with the installation of the Airaid t/b kit. I sent these to a reply to a t/body posting earlier. Airaid did not respond to my email. I sent digital pictures to Gibson of my bracket after they responded to my email. Gibson sent me a generous goody bag for my troubles. Inspite of my troubles, I would install the Gibson exhaust, the air intake, and throttle body plate. I try another source other than airaid.

The K&N fipk just make it louder. I didn't notice any power after installing it. Save your money and do a deck plate mod. If you want any real performance, supercharge it.
