Post Aoshima Mazda RX7 Ver R C-West Kit WIP

Hi guys,

I've got some spare time on my hands and also want to cultivate some much needed patience.. so have started a model kit of the Mazda RX7.

Any feedback is welcomed... tips and advice are even better!

I tried to deepen the panel lines with a razor cutting knife that had its tip broken off... so in some places (especially the boot) the lines are thicker. Im not sure how to go about fixing this up so ill just learn from this mistake and make sure on the next kit the same mistake wont be repeated.

Im going to make a custom exhaust system (Greddy I guess with a magnaflow muffler, LOL) using the standard muffler with the tip cut off (i'll add my own, anyone know what I can use for this?) then using some of the plastic tube molding ill make the pipes.

As you can see on the photo I took of the underside that Ive removed the standard downpipe by cutting it off with a razor and using an airgrinder followed by some sanding, it was abit time consuming but overall quite an easy task.

I need to get some rougher sandpaper as all I have is 180grit and 1200grit... so the two extremes (too rough and too fine) need to get some 800 then ill start sanding the body and all the putty ive put on. Anyhow time to post up some pics, the quality of the pics arent the best, ill try to upload some better ones with the next update.

If you squint it looks alright (the pic underneath)

Re: Aoshima Mazda RX7 Ver R C-West Kit WIP

Too late TRBJ ive already given her a few coats of mica blue, I was thinking about painting the body in silverleaf, but the silver looked to be too grayish so I just went with the blue.

I did run into some self-made problems though, which include... after sanding the primer and washing the body afterwards with water and soap... I rushed washing the soap off and didnt notice there was still some soap left in the corners and some little bits on the body, painted the first coat and after drying it all started to bubble up in those areas. Patience is something we need when doing these kits, problems tend to start otherwise, ive noticed.
