Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

I had a 1954 Buick Special back in the 70's. I sold it for $40.00 to a guy that used it in a demolition derby. No rust & ran great. I was young & bought a newer car & just wanted rid of it. I still kick myself for such an idiot move.

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

1954 caddy limo.! and a 1930s RIO flat bed every day for work in the 80s you could jump start it with a couple of 6 volt bulleye batteries. hi, and lo gears, you were in one or the other. low three gears very slow or high for all three gears still slow but steady. couldn`t kill the thing and i tried so the boss would get a new truck. it was a daily challenge but driving that old thing was actually fun .I sure miss the old days!!

The oldest car that I have probably driven is a 1964 Ford Thunderbolt

though its a classic yet it still runs faster...

An Aussie version of the Ford Falcon? (USA)

Edit: Just looked it up on the web. It was built on the Ford Fairlane chassis in 1964. Only 120 built. 427cu in w/hi-rise intake.

The Thunderbolt was a " strictly for drag racing " vehicle built in very limited production for certain established and successful factory sponsored drag racing teams . For reference , go to www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z15643/ford-thunderbolt.aspx

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

You will see many " clones " of this model at car shows but very few of the real ones are around . They were built in a very limited quantity and the ones that have survived are highly prized and are publicly displayed on rare occasions . So if you actually have driven one , consider yourself a lucky man !

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

Car - 1927 Swift
Vehicle - 1915 Garrett 4CD steam tractor
Neither really my cup of tea but you have to indulge your father in law. Having said that I've driven some pretty powerful / fast cars but none was as frightening as the steam engine !

Wow... a steamer! Plumbers nightmare. I'd love to have some time with one. My most recent was a '29 Jordan.
