Air Condition Clutch won't engage - 2007 CRV
My air conditioner clutch and solenoid were just replace on my CRV after the solenoid was diagnosed as open circuit. It was an expensive repair, since the compressor had to be removed, repaired and the refridgerant replaced. The mechanic said that Honda had provided a solenoid with a different part number than the original, suggesting that the original design has some issues.
Is the clutch (solenoid) failure a frequent issue with the Hondas? Are there any recalls/ out of warrenty repairs on this item? My CRV has 106,000 Km. |

Since your mechanic opened the system-- I'd say he now has a leak--which is the number one cause of mobile a/c failure- What keeps you from marching back to him? To fix it right...

I have the old clutch and field coil that were replaced. The clutch bearing was rough, so probably would go later on and the field coil was open circuit. No sign of physical damage to the coil. |

What's this "solenoid" you're talkin about?

Solenoid is probably wrong term.
It's the coil that activates the clutch in the compressor. It called "clutch coil", part number HON-38924-RWC-A01 on my invoice (and cost me $120.17). |

BTW, Honda re-imbursed me for the total repair, since apparently this is a common fault and covered by an "extended warranty" or something.
