Re: 93 VR4 vs 260 hp RSX Type-S??

whoever said that the rsx will outrun camaro z28/ss has obvioulsy never driven or ridden in both cars, the ss with exhuast will run 12's, corvetts, no,maybe the older ones like the c4's, but who cars about all this crap, the weekend is over and still no post on who won, someone needs to be whipped with a tent pole, WHAT IS THE VERDICT

Re: 93 VR4 vs 260 hp RSX Type-S??

Okay.... Update... Highway racing... the Type-S won it... they raced 3 times... on the highway... I thought it would be close... but the Type-S took it. First and second time the S won, third time the VR4 took it... pretty nice race... I think it was the driver though, because after awhile, the VR4 started to catch-up, it was a very close race too.... I was in a WRX behind them...

I'm gonna sell my car and walk everywhere now...I don't believe it one bit. I'm going to call up some buddies from GroundZero High Performance and see if they can get an RSX-S hooked up, because I know the RSX couldn't win it. I would have to see it for my own eyes. I've seen VR-4s just maul Vettes and Cobra SVTs....and I don't believe an RSX-S with 300HP could keep up with some of those.

It was either a driver fault, or somethin is weird, cuz if the VR-4 is runnin 14+ psi, he should have walked him on the highway. 4th gear in a VR-4 is just vicious...I want to see it for myself. Don't believe it....

Maybe an RSX with 260 at the wheels can take a VR-4 with 360 or so at the crank...but the VR-4 is pushin out like 300+ ft. lbs. of torque, and even with weight and drivetrain loss in, he should have pulled on him. I would have guessed the VR-4 to win by 2-4 cars...damn I'm confused....

Yeah.. it seemed like the VR4 should've taken it, but i think it really was the driver....

Thats the reality of racing. The biggest factor is the driver and how well they know/handle their car.

What was the race to...? If I remember correctly, you said they would both go @ 50mph? When did they shut it down? Got any more details, because I would be interested to know what the drivers were doing.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: 93 VR4 vs 260 hp RSX Type-S??

what year vr4 was it?
cause if it was a 1st gen and that rsx-s took him from 50mph, that is hard to beleive but, hell he lost fair and square from what it sounds like

I been cruising around all over Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA just looking for a base VR-4. I found a guy with a 210 hp type-s, (at the wheels) and he says if I find a base VR-4 that will race him, he'll go. (I know, I'm stupid, some random guy I don't know, but he's only 22, and gave me his cell number heh.)

So far, haven't seen a single VR-4, and my friends at GroundZero High Performance don't have a single buddy with one. These things are rare heh.

i'm only 3 hours away from you in seattle, if he wants to travel the the distance, i'll have some rsx-s doors ready for him, cause the one's he has on there are coming off
