kman i got a question for you? why do you hate 3000gts so much???
I abhor the idea of a performance vehicle that weighs nearly two tons, and I don't care how fast it is. It's not just the 3000GT VR-4; I also dislike the Skyline GT-R, the 300ZX TT, and the new SVT Cobra for their 3500+ lb. curb weights. I'd much rather have an Eclipse GSX than a 3000GT VR-4, and I'd much rather have a built 240SX than a 300ZX TT, and I'd much rather have a Fox Body 5.0 Mustang than a new SVT Cobra.

Another reason is that I don't like the company Mitsubishi very much. Their reliability and build quality has been pretty low in last 10-20 years, leading to poor sales, low customer loyalty ratings, and, currently, near bankruptcy. Many of their AWD cars are known to have transmission/clutch problems, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if they actually honored their warranties.

Yea i am sick of hearing of mitsu not fufilling warranties (See C/D issue where they talked about them not giving warranties due to track uses or organized events on an EVO.....). However there comercials claim they have the best backed cars. Laughable.

However I love the VR-4, GSXs, and the Evo. So dont call me anti-Mitsu or anti-3kgt.

Also how do you hate a car based on it's curb weight.

Can a 2800 lb. car really run 13 flat in the 1/4 mile with only 242 whp? That's assuming it has about 290 hp at the crank...which is a considerable amount but nearly breaking 12's with that? 2800 lbs. isn't THAT light.

For comparison, a stock Nissan 350z weighs around 3200 lbs, dynos at around 240whp, and runs 14's flat in the 1/4 mile. And I imagine the modded RSX isn't going to be making 230 lbs torque either. However, the RSX IS 400 lbs lighter, and it is geared differently (3.538 Final Drive Ratio vs. 4.389 final drive ratio). Despite its advantages, I doubt a 242 whp RSX will run a 13.0 in the 1/4 mile.

From a roll, i still say VR4.

A 4.3 FDR? That's an awful low gearing for a Jap car isn't it....Hell thats a pretty low gearing for even a Muscle car; You sure about that?

Anyways, hurry up. I'm curious to find out who's going to win this, i'm not making any predictions because i've never driven either of these two cars.

I don't hate it because it weighs so much, it's just that a 3700-lb. car like the VR-4 is not gonna be as agile or tossable as a car like the 240SX or RX-7. The VR-4 is not a sports car, it's a grand touring car. It sacrifices some of its agility and maneuverability for luxury features and advanced technology. I don't care about all that stuff, I'd rather have something that can stop on a dime and is light on its feet. Now I've never driven the VR-4 and for all I know, it fits me perfectly, but considering its weight and its size, I doubt it'll offer the pure driving experience that I crave.

A cheetah isn't one of the fastest animals in the world because it only uses 2 of its 4 legs . Yah yah i know if anything it ties very loosely to any of this but i felt the need to say that.

the vr-4 will experience drivetrain loss no doubt from a roll but recently i saw a video of a couple of vr-4's in a highway roll against a turbo supra (who was brake boosting by the way) and while the supra got maybe a half car jump on em both, as soon as they punched it they went right past the supra. This is in no way saying that a vr-4 stock is capable of taking anything on the highway but its just a point used to illustrate that these cars are still MEAN highway cars.

I know im biased (3kgt owner yes of course) but maybe if the guy in the vr-4 is generous enough to go from a roll, you should persuade the rsx driver to go from a dig as well as a roll.

Also some people may hate the weight of the vr-4 and thats understandable and respectable but it would be appealing to me to have a quick heavy car equipped with plenty of creature comforts and GOD FORBID you are hit by another car, you'll most likely be a lot safer than not... Given that sports cars have a common stereotype to be weightless wonders of the road and the vr-4 is an anomoly in that respect, i like the combination of both styles.... Kind of like those old v12 jag sedans they used to make, heavy as anything but still damn quick.

Re: 93 VR4 vs 260 hp RSX Type-S??

i'm going w/ VR-4 just because...mitsu power baby!! and an EVO would run even w/ the RSX type s w/ the mods etc at 235 whp from a roll (according to whp 232<235), but the vr4 has MORE to the ground and even more because of the mods...the vr4 better win, or i'm sellin' my car and getting a civic, now if the type S is gunna spray during the race and didn't dyno w/ the spray....that'd be interesting

Hey, MODS in VR4 was wrong...i asked my friend and he said the mods in the Vr4 is BC, Exhaust and air filter, but my cousin's RSX Type-S mods are:
-TODA Engine kit stage 1, that means it has TODA valve springs
-TODA cams
-TODA camshafts
-Type-R manifold
-DC headers (Straight pipings) and a performance exhuast.
-AEM Cold Air Intake and i think my cuzin said somethin about ver.2 cold air
- well, all i kno is that this RSX has 260 at the wheels...
oh yeah, the race is on this weekend on the highway, and ill bring you guys the news
