does the car live up to the legend?
Hi. I read so much stuff on the grand national and now im obsessed with the car and really want to buy one. BUT........does it really live up to the legend? Or is the car too much hype and publicity? Im talking regular GN with "claimed" low-mid 14s 1/4 mile. Can it handle well? Is it fun to drive? I don't wana be disappointed the first time i drive it so I want to know how it really is.

correct me if I'm wrong.....
Correct me if I'm wrong!
But, just for comparison sakes..... didn't the '87 GN beat the '87 Vette? ~S PS: From what I've read on the GN's on this board, and others, it's quite the freakin a$$ hauler. CHEERS |

Re: does the car live up to the legend?
Yes, 87 was the only year that another GM vehicle outperformed the vette
UMMM 86 gn also out sprinted the corvette they were the same horsepower output as the 87's. Don't let GM kid you on that one

My father has a 87' GN with 24k miles, it has a very minor performance upgrade package right out of the factory and he went 13.8 @ ??? with some sticky street tires. In my mind they are one of the best cars ever built, just a blast to drive. Also, very easy to get going real fast, my friend played his cards right and he has $4000 in his 87' and it's in the low 12's pushing 11's....what more do you want? Just awesome!!!!

All about the turbo, man...screw the V8s/V10s/V12s+....gimme a V6/I6 (or even a 4-cylinder) with a turbo and we'll see what's up...I love turbos...that's why I'm building a turbo engine right now and not V8 or supercharged-something or something...

Re: does the car live up to the legend?
hah wow i posted this thread like a year ago =O... still obsessed with GNs, and now i own one. Well, a DUB CITY old skool 1:24 scale model that is. As soon as i save up, which will take about a year, i will buy a GN for a weekend fun car, and my civic will become the weekday only car.

Re: does the car live up to the legend?
i dont check this forum too much, im too busy on turbobuicks, and all the other buick forums. but if cash is an issue, might wanna look into the older turbo buicks, like the hot air cars... and also the t-types or turbo T's. lots of cars for u to get into the turbo buick community. and they are a handful but are well worth it.
