Insurance Discount

So I'm looking for auto insurance from a website online,[edited by moderator] and was wondering if anyone knows how to find OFFER CODES, for reduced rates????

I am already receiving a discount for being a student, having a car alarm, and getting a quote online, looking to see what else I can do to reduce the cost.

Hi BigZig, just a quick note before I address your question. Mentioning a certain product or site in your initial post can be considered advertising, which is strictly prohibited without prior permission.

I've edited your post to reflect this position; please check the rules of posting prior to posting again.

To answer your question, it seems you have done what you can do to keep the costs down. Factors that can NOT be changed are your age, sex, and driving record. The vehicle you own could have a lot to do with it also, check with your company for quotes for different vehicles.

You can also play with a higher deductible to reduce cost, but be wary of going higher than you'd be willing or able to pay after an accident, as you could find yourself with a wrecked car but not enough to pay the deductible.

As far as promotional codes or offer codes, you could probably use any number of search engines to find them online.

Re: Insurance Discount

To add to what fred said I'd like to add some more ways you can receive a lower rate. Where you live can affect the rate you pay,(city versus the suburbs.)Taking a defensive driving course can reduce certain parts of your premium for up to 3 years.Keep your credit score as high as you can because people with a low score tend to be viewed as a "higher risk" and pay higher premiums.Check with the insurance company to see if they offer discounts for other safety equipment that comes with your vehicle. These can include ABS brakes, air bags, daytime running lights, etc. The longer you stay with your insurance company can add up to a discount also. I've been with my current insurance company for 23 years and get a pretty good discount for that. If possible, go with a yearly policy versus a 3 or 6 month one. Many times the yearly policy can be lower. If you can afford to, opt to pay the yearly or semi annual premium versus breaking it down into monthly payments. My insurance company charges $3 a month to break it down into monthly payments, that can add up. I realize though most people cannot do this, especially those going to college or are still in school. If you can get on your parent's policy, you both may get a break called a "multi car " discount. Many insurance companies also offer discounts if you have other policies out with them. I get an additional discount for having my homeowners policy with my car insurance. You also can come right out and ask if there are any other discounts you are entitled to. Some discounts may not be advertised, and you will have to ask for them. It can't hurt to try. Also, it helps to review your policy from time to time to see if the coverages you have are still the right ones. Many people drop certain coverages such as collision after a certain period of time, such as 7 years. If you have a good insurance company they should be doing this on a regular basis.
