Re: Box size...
... your furnace box with a fire in it?... j/k... what are you looking to get out of the sub? SPL (loudness)? I would guess the more experienced people are going to recommend a ported box, about 2 cubes net, tuned to like 35 Hz. Audiobahns don't have a good reputation around here, as I'm sure you're probably aware.

Yes I am well aware of that fact and I myself am not a big fan of Audiobahn. But, that's what I have at the moment so it will have to do. Mainly what I am going for is good response throughout a fairly large frequency range, and low notes especially. I assume a ported box would suit this sub best? I understand the information is all there, but I dont know how to determine the box's actual dimensions.

Re: Box size...
nope... a ported box is really loud at the tuned frequency, but it's curve dips off considerably when it's above or below that freq. A sealed box will make a much more flat and even response, which is what I think you're looking for.
Here's a good article that has the basics. |

Re: Box size...
problem is, that sub is an SPL driver. it will be pretty difficult to get good SQ. check out the size of that surround and how little cone area there is. it is going to move alot of air through excursion but be very sloppy. id say port it to like 38-40 Hz. i have not hear this sub ported before but i know that sealed it doesnt sound very good. loud as hell but not very responsive.
