Honda del sol engine swap with D16Y8?

I have a wrecked 99 civic ex with the D16Y8 engine, and have the option to purchase a 93 del sol that needs the enging replaced. Was wondering if I can swap the engines and if anyone has done this and can tell me what problems I will be looking at.

Thanks for any and all info

Re: Honda del sol engine swap with D16Y8?

yes, you can do this, but what you are going to have to look at is the fact that a Y8 motor is newer than 96, meaning it is OBD2, and your del sol is a 93, meaning it is OBD1. not a big deal and you can find everything you'll need for the swap at clubcivic or hondatech if you can't find it on google. not very bad, if you've got a d series in the del sol now then the mounts should even be the same.
