1990 300ZX losing power
We thought we had the problem fixed...the power steering lines were leaking on to the alternator causing it to short out(this is what a mechanic told us)...we replaced the power steering lines and put a new alternator in...the car ran fine for a few days but it's losing power again...mechanic claims he tested all the wiring for a short but didn't find one (I don't trust mechanics so I'm not sure he even tested the wiring)...we're out of ideas on what's causing the power drain...if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it...thanks

The leaking power steering line is actually a pretty common problem.
Do you have any kind of aftermarket electronics that pull power after shut off? Does you're security light on the dash keep blinking even after the car has been off and locked?

Re: 1990 300ZX losing power
She doesnt trust mechanics.... good thing I am not a mechanic, I AM A TECHNICIAN! LOL.
Also what is the status on your battery? How old is it, is it good? What do your battery cables look like, is there a nice science project growing on them? (corrosion) What else...... what do you mean losing power, electrical or mechanical. Do you have under drive pulleys? hmmmm.... Cant think of anything else just right now. If I think of anything else. Oh where are you location wise, nothing spacific, just to see if your close to one of the guys, they or myself would be glad to take a look at it and see if we can come up with something. I generally dont charge for looking at a Z32 I think its a duty owning one myself.
