Distributor question on 89 NA
This probably sounds like a dumb question, but does anyone know what the 3-position switch does on the back side of a Bosch distributor cap? I feel like an idiot, because in the six years I've been working on my car and three distributor caps later, I just noticed the switch for the first time as I was replacing vacuum lines the other day. I'm guessing it has to do with timing, perhaps the center position being factory setting, one direction to retard and the other to advance. If so, I can't find a reference for it anywhere. Any ideas?

Re: Distributor question on 89 NA
I can't find the links off hand but your best bet would probably be the factory manual or a Z31 specific forum.

Re: Distributor question on 89 NA
It's a Bosch distributor cap, #3102 I think? Whatever the standard model is they offer for the Z31 N/A. If I can remember, I'll try and get a picture of it. Can't find it in any manuals or references, which seems really strange.
