Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

My 91 Zed has been running piss poor lately. Feels like its choking and hesitating the worst in the 3-4 rpm range. Couple of issues I know of, but what could it be? Compression test show one cylinder running a little low (%68)? Exhaust leak around the cats? Once it gets above 4,5 rpm its runs a little better, but still rough. Feels the worst when maintaining a set speed. It is a 5spd N/A if that helps. Anyone got any clue about what it could be?

No. I did try to get advanced to run one the other night while I was there, but its past their age limit. Just trying get an idea of what it could be before taking it somewhere. Check Eng light not on either, though I know that doesnt mean its not throwing any codes.

Re: Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

it's not that difficult to run them yourself, especially if you've got a factory service manual

Re: Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

I guess, but I dont have the equipment. Ive seen software for laptops, but I dont have the cables. Just thinking someone might have had similar problem or an idea if it could be compression or the cats. I read one post of someone having the cats being leaked on by the exhaust (and I have a leak there) causing somewhat similar symptoms. I know its not a science, just looking for some more clues so I can work on it myself. Indeed thanks for the reply and any additional info.

Re: Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

what do you mean the equipment? you need a small flathead screwdriver, and whatever to pull the interior panel off...

Re: Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

I thought you were refering to a engine diagnostic where you plug in the tool to read thrown codes. I will give the ecu diagnostic a try and post the codes. Thanks!

Re: Hi! Help! z32 hesitation

He is refering to the diagnostic..... Nissan was nice enough to make this possible with or without a computer scan tool. All you need is a flat head screwdriver and a flashlight helps. You can look at the FSM (factory Service Manual) On 300ZX.org. Odds are your probly looking at best case, bad plugs, or worst case blown headgasket.
