The cars are close enough that it would be a drivers race.

Re: 3000gt Vr4 vs. Subaru Impreza WRX STI
the wrx sti is a quick car, not fast.
in the 1320 its more a drivers race with the sti having a bit of an edge on the vr4. by numbers and mags the sti is the faster car in the 1320. however, on a highway run, the sti doesn't stand much a chance on the freeway. our gears are too long and too sweet for an sti. 1st gen vr4's go up to 125mph in 3rd gear, 115mph for second gens 3rd gear i beleive the sti would be in 5th. i've raced an evo on the highway and swallowed it whole i've got into a scuffle with an sti on the freeway and as i was passing him after 115mph he shutdown seeing he was on his way for a loss. they are basically rally cars made to be quick in short distances, there purpose is not top speed at all! but handling and quickness.

Re: 3000gt Vr4 vs. Subaru Impreza WRX STI
From personal experience, I have beated one local sti (when I just had an intake) multiple times in shorter races with traffic...usually from like 20-70ish.
Another Sti I met on a highway, I completely walked, I assume due to its gearing. From 70-120, I put a bunch of car lengths in between. Those 2 are the only ones I can remember racing.

Re: 3000gt Vr4 vs. Subaru Impreza WRX STI
car against car, facts against facts I THINK the STI should come on top in any type of quartermile run from a dig JUST BASED ON FACTS. However on the streets things usually don't turn out that way.
It is not easy to bring out the full potential of the STI and I don't think many of us at all drive like the pros in magazines. At a track the STI is a deadly foe with the upper hand but on the highway it is not even funny how much the STI would get walked. As stated before these are rally based cars made for short sprints, not excessive speeds. |

A boost controller on the STI? Apples to Apples. Stock they would be pretty close but I would give it to the STI on a short stretch.

Lol they didn't invent all the components of their cars is what I'm saying. I'd say any "smart" person with a special passion is a nerd.

Carol shelby (for the cobras) Used a body from a european car, an engine built by ford, and a chassis that was nice from europe :P
not to discredit the man, but he was just putting together pieces.

:22yikes: I think you guy are missing the point. I'm not talking about the guy for 20 years of his life patented a fuse on the car. And a "smart" person with a passion is not a nerd. That's just about everyone on this website... I think those men used great knowledge creating those machines, so take it how you want to.
