1991 Plymouth Laser Engine Swap Q

A friend of mine has a '91 Plymouth Laser with a twin cam in it but that's hosed so he's wondering what other kinds of engines will work in it. A 2.5 or 3 L engine?
He just wants to know what his options are for engine replacements. Thanks for any/all help.
Feel free to pm me on here...

Thanks again,
darucaid

I'll ask him on Sunday when I'm working and post back early Monday after work to your question.
Thanks
