2002 montero leaking water in valley! Help
I have a 2002 montero sport that is leaking radiator water unpressurized just above the alternator. Yes unpressurized! The water is in the valley but is running down out and down the side of the block just under the alternator. Any help or ideas would be grateful. Thanks

might be a freeze plug in the head or block thats rusted out. hopefully you had antifreeze it in so if it got below freezing it didn't crack anything. probably have to pull the alternator out to get a better look at where its coming from. if its coming from under the intake manifold you have a bad gasket or hose that runs under it

Crvett69 thanks! It coming from the valley area and poring down the alt side of block. No freezing down in San Deigo so safe their. I can't see where it coming from. I am going to remove the water pump and go from there. I will report back. I just wished I could see the leak. O well. Thanks Again

Re: 2002 montero leaking water in valley! Help
Took it apart on the guest that it was the O ring on the back side of the water pump. Replaced the timing belt and water pump as well. It was the O ring. The end of the pipe was rusting out. So I cleaned it well and used a 2 part putty on it. Sanded it smooth. Purchased my part from rockauto. The O ring in the kit was too big! Wrong size so I had to go to the dealer for the O ring. $8. Wow really! I used ATV sealer on it.
