Funny little thing happened today.

I was at work and everything was going crappy as ussual and A 2006 Mitsubishi Evo owner had some bad news. He complaining about his clutch slipping and his brakes squeeling. Well the clutch going out is a common thing on the EVO. But the bill and the look on his face was priceless.

I looked under his car after the tech who was working on it got done with his estimate. He had cut out the cat and put in a 2.25inch pipe in the place of the cat it was crappy weld job too. Caused a check engine light, and his cheap aftermarket exhaust manifold had been put on wrong and it blew the exhaust gasket. After the tech got done with the estimate it came to 6000 dollars in parts and labor.

It was 1700 dollars for brakes, he has brembo brakes. 800 or so for the clutch, 1000 for a new exhaust system with cat. Plus the exhaust manifold gasket, and then labor......

I only tell this story becuase I have had so many evo owners talk crap about the Z, on how expensive it is and how hard it is to work on, and how slow it is. But then I see this happen and I enjoy the little things.

Pointless thread yes, but another thing to markup for Nissan, OH YEA!

Re: Funny little thing happened today.

So did he end up paying for the whole lot of it or just tell them to fix the exhaust manifold gasket and clutch?

Re: Funny little thing happened today.

He is tring to get a deal out of our service maneger. So he still hasnt decided. I think he is going to do the brakes though. There was less than a millimeter of pad left on the rear and the fronts had alread worn throught the pads and were stopping by the pads backing plate.

My God...how can he even let it get that far? Dude can afford a 25-30K dollar car but can't afford a 30 dollar set of pads?

Re: Funny little thing happened today.

well he decided on getting the exhaust gasket taken care of and thats it. He's not doing anything else on that car. Just sad, it will be the death of another car due to owner stupidity.
