well im not sure of that gen of the 3sgte/3sge engines... but i thought either the altezza or the caldina had an option of a turbo but the turbo engine didnt have vvt-i, but i have heard of that gen which produces that much power

Re: Altezza Performance

The caldina is definitely available with the turbo.
My engine looks completely different than the previous model 3s. If you look in my galleries, I have a pic posted. No plugwires (coil pack ignition) and a lot of other small things appear to be different.....

The Altezza comes in essentially two variants with 3 trim levels each. The RS200 and the AS200 are the two variants. Their major difference is the engine.

The RS200 gets the "BEAMS" 3S-GE Dual VVT-i 4 Cyl engine. 1.998L 154kw (210PS) about 210 HP @ 7,600 rpm (6 spd M or 5 spd Auto)

The AS200 gets the "BEAMS" 1G-FE Dual VVT-i 6 Cyl engine. 1.988L 118kw (160PS) about 160 HP @ 6,200 rpm (6 spd M or 4 spd Auto)

Re: Altezza Performance

hey matada, how much longer do you think the vvtl makes your engine... specifically the timing belt cover..... i'm thinking about swapping my 3s-gte for the beams engine and a turbo... but theres only about an inch or so clearance between the cover and the bay in the mr2.

I think the Altezza's are kept N/A for the touring cars in that class. The 3SGE Beams is deffinately 210hp for the 6 speed manual or 200 for the E-Shift. I have not done the 1/4 in my car so no times there. But it is very quick not quite as quick as my Mitsi Libero GT

No torque!

My Altezza is an RS200Z with a 6-spd trans. It's a fun four door touring car, but not exactly fast. I've seen advertised 1/4 mile times in the low 14s to low 15s. The engine is nice and makes cool noises at the top of it's rev limit, but it just hasn't got any torque, especially low and mid range.

Sure if you spin the motor you can go fast, but the car just doesn't pull like the bigger displacement engines I'm used too. Car is somewhat anoying to drive around hilly urban areas. Starting from a stop going up hill is a pain. The car wants to bog badly unless rev'd pretty high. That makes for fustrating urban driving.

Trouble is there so much traffic, can't do much but drive slow.... Overall a very sweet car inside and out. Great quality fit and finish. I wish my C5 Corvette had been built as nice.

Do you mean 262@crank?? cos doesn really make sense to me 262@rwhp = est 320bhp@crank . U were saying 225bhp@rwhp after intake and exhaust, but stock comes with 210bhp at crank right?? so at rwhp would be only ard 175bhp... intake and exhuast can't give u gain of 40bhp, so I supposed it's crank bhp??

Re: Altezza Performance

could be the dyno...

jdm altezza gets the 3S-GTE in place of the 2 litre. IS 200. IS 300 is a 3 litre, 2jz.

trust sell a turbo kit, only up to 300hp,or you need to change pistons, cams, conrod etc. but is better put the 3r generation of 3sgte, the 4r generation of 3s have a balance shaft and direct injection and have a lot of problems, is better use the 3r generation with turbo, i just make one for next january, 6speed turbo altezza.
