engine problem
can anyone help me with a ford galaxy 2.3 2001 plate. the fault is the engine will start and then less than a min cut out. also sometimes it will run but when driving it, there is no throttle at all and u try to rev it like pedal to the floor and nothing is happening, but did notice exhaust sounded loud when reving. dont know if the exhaust caylist has dropped and is blocking the pipe so the air is not coming out of the pipe???
anyone got any ideas? asap thanks |

Re: engine problem
If the muffler or catalytic converter was plugged up it would cause the symptoms you describe. Check the vacuum with a gauge at the intake manifold.. If it reads less than 18 inches the converter is plugged up. if you want, you could disconnect the exhaust where it goes into the converter. If engne starts and runs better you wil know it is plugged.

Re: engine problem
hi dave, well try to work on it again today, and now i was wondering if the fuel level sender unit is faulty and now not pumping up the fuel. the engine starts but dies straight away, i am thinking the pump is gone in the tank, the fuel gauge is reading half a tank of fuel. i dont know what to try first to check? would it be best to take off the supply line and with the igniton on see if the fuel comes out? need your help asap.

Re: engine problem
Pull your fuel filter and blow through it as it may be partially plugged. I've also pulled the intake hose and sprayed starting fluid in if it runs you have a fuel problem.
As it starts and stalls feel the exhaust does it feel like a good flow. Are you sure this is a 2001 Ford Galaxy I didn't think they made them this late. |
