Then get an MX-3 and swap in an SVT motor! It can be done and it would be quiet different.

Jason, that is some idea... If that would work that would be one hell of a car. The weight with the addition of the engine... I know for a fact the 2.5L japanese mx-6 200HP engine will fit. I believe the SVT engine has more room for modification the the J-spec 2.5L though. If the mounts are right I believe the engine might fit although it looks a tad different. I owned bothe a 93 Probe GT with the 2.5 and now the SVT. The SVT motor seems to be quite a bit bigger than the 2.5L mazda engine, but I'm just guessing.

What's up with all the talk of Mazda V6's. huh?

How's this for a transplant......yank the 1.8 V6 out of the MX3.....replace with the Miller-cycle Supercharged 2.3L Millenia S engine. That'd do the trick.

Better yet, howzabout just hopping up a 323GTX (or later 323GTR)? Cheap, fun turbo 4WD, but none of these ideas as refined & good-handling & reliable as a G.

We're back to where we started, huh?

How about this, we screw all this talk about swapping in motors and what not. Why? Because I am not up to doing all these swaps. I want to buy a car, with a good punch from the get go, that doesnt need much added to get it somewhat faster.

Well if that's the case just get the SVT. It will put a grin on your face and many of frowns on the cars your whipping. God I still remember that type-r's face... .
