back to the shop. . . . again!!!!

I have a 2006 freestyle SEL with 51800 miles on it. On Tuesday, the car went into "reduced power mode" for the second time since I've had this car (I bought new.) Last time this happened, it's was because the throttle body went bad - at 26800 miles. Now I am being told that it may be the throttle body, again. Or the PCM. Or three other things. I had the codes pulled at autozone, and it returned P061B and P2106 twice. However, since there is NOTHING on the net (for free-- yes I am a cheapskate!!!) I took it to the dealer. They gave me those 2 codes and told me there were two transmission codes, and for $84.00 they could finish diagnosing the problem. Has anyone else had similar issues, or did I buy a LEMON?

I'll update later after my 84 dollars reveals the true nature of the beast.

BTW-- I think it's that throttle body.

BTW-- "reduced power mode" means that it takes about 5 minutes to go 0-60 and RPM's never exceed 2500.

Re: back to the shop. . . . again!!!!

OK, Here's the update.. . . .

Dealership called me back, and had preauthorized the repair. The car is now fixed and ready for pickup. Scary isn't it????

It was the air filter.

Yep-- that's right-- the air filter.

Thanks to Ford for only charging me $35.00 and writing off 6 hours of diagnostic time.

note to self-- next time, change the filter .. . .. .
