Re: exhaust manifold flange leak?
Is the flange weak and your not clamping properly. If this is the case I think I've run across repair flanges two piece with a rivet that opens or the two bolts clamp it down. Ask at a store like Napa with experienced parts help. You have to cut or remove the old one.

Re: exhaust manifold flange leak?
Sometimes the metal if the Y-pipe can become somewhat distorted, causing a leak. In this case, you can heat up the leaking area cherry-red with an oxy-acetylene torch and tap the flange then re-tighten. The manifold will act like an 'anvil' and re-shape the metal for a better seal.
But if the y-pipe metal is too thin, fatigued or split, this will not work. In that case, some high temp copper based silicone could be used to make a temporary gasket. |
