Subaru is adding a new shade of blue to its lineup of cars.

Dubbed Subaru Hyper Blue, the new color was revealed on the Japanese automaker’s Facebook page with an announcement that it’ll arrive this fall. A lighter take on the iconic Subaru blue, we wouldn’t blame you if Hyper Blue reminds you of Volvo’s Polestar color. Interestingly, the WRX and BRZ used to showcase the Hyper Blue color also sported black badging and black wheels, hinting that the paint shade may be offered with a special edition model.

Running with the special edition model theory, it is likely that Hyper Blue will be the new shade of choice for Subaru’s Series.Blue models which was used on the 2015 model year BRZ. The 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue came with an abundance of STI add-ons and was limited to 1,000 units – 500 in WR Blue Pearl and 500 in Crystal White Pearl. As part of the Series.Blue edition, Subaru also outfitted the BRZ with contrast blue highlights in the interior including blue stitching and silver logos embroidered into the seats and floor mats.

Pricing on the 2015 Subaru BRZ Blue.Series was set at $30,285 including destination. Expect more details on how Subaru will use the Hyper Blue shade in the near future.
