1995 jimmy transmission

I had the transmission fluid changed about 6 months ago. The transmission seams to slip as the gears are changing. I have to back down and hope it catches. This has just started happening - although I have noticed that it often hesitates when going into overdrive. The rpm gauge will shoot up and then drop back down when it engages..

I am not very experienced at fixing cars, so I want to have some ideas before I take it for servicing.

If you didn't have the old filter removed and new filter installed, the old filter is probably clogged up again and the reduced pressure is allowing the clutches to slip and they'll wear out very fast requiring a rebuild $$$$$.
If the new filter was installed, one of the shift solenoids may be failing. Either way, the trans. needs shop attention asap.
