Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Finally, another update!

Heres the engine with the rear suspension:

Here are the brakes and control arm...For the brakes I used Crazy Modeler´s photoetched parts and resin calipers. The assembly of the brake discs is tricky, but the final result looks great!

Since I will show the model with all the tires on, and to avoid problems during wheel assembly, I will put the brake discs directly in the rims. I added brake lines to the calipers.

And here´s the complete rear suspension/engine assembly...I added some rivets to give it a better look.

That´s it for the moment!! I will scratchbuild some exhaust details next.

Yes, red disks center are for the left side, and the blue ones are for the right side.

I know those brakes are going to be impossible to see once the wheels are on, but hey, I KNOW the detail is in there!

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Great start !!!
I love this car as my favorite driver drove it.
If I can suggest something, the breaded hoses are looking a bit flat. You should fill them with a small electric wire or even a thin wire of tin soldering used in electronic. Just a tip

Thanks for the suggestion! I used Detail Master Braided hose, and you're right, it is very flat, but now I ordered Scale Production's hose, that should look way better...I'll post some pics so you guys can see the difference.

Thanks!

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Another update!

Remember when I said in my opening post that this kit engineering was flawless?? Well, I take that back after seeing the engine parts!!

ALL engine parts are oversimplified and innacurate. The engine drawing in the box cover is very close to the real thing, but the parts provided in the kit will NOT build anything remotely close to that. For example, the exhaust tubes are hollow and look awful:

A lot of scratchbuilding is needed to make the engine look good. For example, this part is just unusable:

So, I did a new part out of solder and aluminum tubes. I will add some heat staining prior to installing:

Next, another part of the exhaust/air filtering system was filled (the pieces were hollow) and sanded:

Did you notice the hose straps?? Here´s a GREAT tip: Next time your wife drags you to the mall , check out the nail care stores...I found this roll of nail decoration stripe:

The stripe is 0.7 mm wide, and it is very thin, almost like bare metal foil..Best of all, it has adhesive, just like Bare metal foil!!... I bought the aluminum colored roll to build the hose stripes, but there´s a wide variety of colors to choose from!!

Well, that´s it for the moment! I´ll try to make more progress over the weekend!

Waow !
You'll improve this kit even far better than what I thought possible...
Congratulations, nice work and very pleasant thread to follow.

Re: WIP...Peugeot 405T16GR

Hey guys! I have more to show you!

This is the part I show you in my previous post with some heat staining...I used Tamiya´s weathering kit, and I think the result looks very realistic:

And here´s the complete engine/rear transmition with the first pieces of the exhaust and air filtering system installed:

What do you think? Hope you like it!
