Oh, I'm glad it's as simple as that! j/k
Darn, I wish I could have done that for my S7 :-[

Fantastic stuff Rob!

Re: 1/12 Ferrari 312 T

I did a bit more on the kit

I'm working on the rear wing support which also holds the battery, oil cooler and a safety switch. I showed you all the oil cooler in the last update, next I made the correct connectors for the oil lines. Turned on the lathe and mill. I'm starting to get the hang of the mill

Here are some shots showing the complete assembly minus the battery.

I'll have another update very soon opcorn:
Thanks

Great connectors! I can't tell, but they look like they are machined out of one piece, correct?

Looks great, oh btw im still wondering how do you scratch build these parts? Like what does the original piece look like?

Keep it up.

Re: 1/12 Ferrari 312 T

More completed
Here's a quick shot of the motor and gearbox as it is at the moment. I still have a lot more detailing to do but it's starting to look the part.

Next I decided to detail the gauges and steering wheel. These little sub-assemblies are treated like individual kits and this process helps keep my motivation high so I can finish the BIG projects.

I drilled out the kits gauges and machined new pieces from aluminium. The gauge surround was quite fragile so I cast a new piece in resin. I have attached a picture of the mold. This will also help whoever buys the second detail kit I'm making because it will be a simple matter of just replacing the original Tamiya plastic assembly with the new resin and machined parts.

here's the complete unit

I also detailed the kits steering wheel

I make a lot of parts on my lathe out of aluminium, but I also scratchbuild lots of replacement parts with plastic & resin. I will try to take photo's of the original kit parts before I do the detailing and post them to show the improvements.

Thanks again for the encouragement !

Awesome as always Rob.

What is the round ring with the holes all the way around for?

Mike.

It's a bracket to hold the tacho. here's a picture I have showing it if you look closely at the backing plate. I'm not sure where this photo came from so I hope I don't upset anyone by posting it here

Cool thanks Rob. Like I've said before your attention to detail is amazing. If you hadn't of pointed it out for me I would have never seen it. I guess that's what seperates the men from the boys.
