Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Been a bit slow because of the holidays.
Still on the gearbox.
Made the fixing points.

Also making the drive shafts.
Made a joint so I have some movement.

Got to paint parts of it yet, but this is how it will look.

Happy new year to you all

Hello
The large tube is 8mm.
Drill a 1.2mm hole all the way through and also through the ali drive shaft.
Then with a 1.2mm plastic rod push it through the hole put 2X 2.4mm cut bits of tube as spaces next to the drive shaft.Push the rod right through to the other side.
When all is ok glue the rod and cut off.
The boot is from an RC car , I got them on Ebay.

I hope that helps.

Up todate with both shafts.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Been working on the shocks.
The rod can move so they can be adjusted.
I have also found out the not everything scales down ok.
The metel rod has a 2mm thread but a 2mm nut would look to big.
So the nut is a 1.6mm with the hole made bigger, I think it looks better.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Still working on the rear suspension.
It has taken a long time to build the rear hub.
I could not find the right size tube so ended up using 15mm copper plumbing pipe.

still some clean up to do.

Also built the main rear suspension.

Still lots to do.

This is amazing! I look at the details of the suspension and I think I see it in 1:1 scale !

Thanks for the good comments.
Still on the back some cleaning up to do but I think it is going well.

all the suspension can move so when it is all together I can get it to sit right.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

I agree with what JayKay said! Very cool indeed. Those rear hubs look ridiculously complicated - are the originals a casting or a fabrication? Either way, yours are looking really good. Once the engine's in the back too, it's going to be something else!

All the best,

SB
