Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Hi nothing to exciting.
I have always been into my MK1 RS Escort.
But thought I would go a bit more modern.
So went for a MK2 Escort 1980.
In the UK we have a big following in RS Escorts.

Glad i'm now back on the 037.

Nothing too exciting? Pah! I've had two of these (one black, one Calypso green) and loved them both. Is that Terracotta? It looks gorgeous.

You are right with the colour.
Did not have to do to much.
Can enjoy the summer shows now.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Ok Been working on the seat.
I wanted to get the right shape to the side and back, so I vacuum formed it.
Started with a form.

Then vacuum formed it .

After cutting.

Starting to build the sides up.

so far, still bits to do.

making things like this is where you loose time.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

...I know what you mean about losing time, but you've got something good to show for it!

How have you created the lip around the edge? I can see that you've added sheet to the inside of the vac-form shell to bulk it up, but you've also got the outer lip which looks 'hollow'. Is it just more strip laid around the edge then shaped to suit, or something fiddlier?! I'm intrigued...

I keep thinking vac-forming is something I should try myself, but I never seem to get any further than looking at videos on YouTube, and thinking 'hmm...looks promising'! Working with fibreglass is okay, but I know that it would be useful to be able to mould plastic too. Actually, what type / thickness of plastic are you using? Just regular styrene sheet, or something 'special'?

The engine, gearbox and Escort are all looking fantastic - great to have you back on the 037 again.

All the best,

SB

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

Hi SB
Just using 0.5 styrene sheet.
The edge is made from 2.0 quarter round stuck together to make a 4.0 half round.
I'm going to try to cover it with material so I can get some folds in it.

Thanks again.

Re: Lancia 037 with a big difference

As some of you may know MFH are bring out a Lancia 037 in 1/12th scale.
http://www.hiroboy.com/userfiles/ima...Remo_44965.png

I have taken 4yrs to get to here with some breaks.
But I was making this as there were no big rally models available.
I have ordered one but a different version.

May have to come back to this one or work on it in the back ground.
Will keep you posted.

Thanks everyone for watching.
