Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
This is nothing fancy - preparing body surface but imho it is a key to the further success in painting and overall finish.
Body is painted with regular Tamiya acrylic grey. It will be stripped off with Mr Muscle when I finish surface check. I found few places to be corrected but nothing major. I have narrowed gaps for wing uprigts and skimmed vertical parts of the front spoiler. Next step - I will remove roof support (fake pillar) and glue front fenders. |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
I have started modification of the front little aero parts. First thinned them down
Next I modified shape for screws as Tamiya's were so-so. On the pic red arrow shows what I intend to achieve. Finished I prepared last stencils for carbon decals - rear hood and front fenders. |

Checking the body with acrylic grey is a great tip. Save money on those expensive primers.

I glued fenders with CA and styrene shavings. Fluffy and sanded fenders: Primed, first attempt and flawless (gapless) result. Happy I thought that it would be last thing to do before painting session... Unfortunately checking ref photos I noticed that (probably) air valve (this blueish rod) for lifting up car is sometimes located on both sides of the roof. Tamiya has located it on the rigt side of the car but I have pictures with this thing on both sides and on the right side only. Not decided to build this or leave it as box stock |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
It has to be black underneath as it is in real. On the other hand styrene is somehow transparent and black would darken red or I will have to use more layers of the paint (details may gone) to get red opaque. So I used silver to reflect as much light as possible. Will see if it'll work or it was just an overkill and stupid idea.

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Decided to build this air valve as it appears that Tamiya has missed this detail. I have alsa drilled those two holes as they were too shallow and would be vanish under paint.

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
I think I have some pics of that 1:1 race car around here in one of my magazines... It's the '04 - '05 season annual review if I'm not wrong, and if I'm not wrong again there is at least 1 pic of the cockpit of that car... Tomorrow I'll check it out and tell you.
But, we're talking about your model... Nice work mate. Your passion for details is out of normal range... REGARDS |
