Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
I am so close to the end...
I have decaled engine cover using SMS Twill Pattern carbon decals. I used bigger ones (1/20) as on my ref pics this part has bigger pattern than air intake. It takes ages to finish those decals... Last edited by Macio4ever; 02-18-2011 at 01:28 AM. |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
ages, but well worth the wait. i like to use 1/20 carbon pattern on 1/24 as it looks more correct in size.
keep the progress coming your so close to calling it done that it makes me say "hey whats next??" |

Man, among other things, your CF work is incredible! I need to learn better technique as I screw it up every time. Thanks for posting the great progress pics!

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Headlights finished however I am not happy with the result. Next time will be better.
Nice thing is that all of the body decals are on! I have started playing with the front windshield. Cut off redundant part which does not exist in the real car. Next - painted with Gunze Semi Gloss Black/Tamiya XF1 and decaled. I have also painted rear light panel. I am pretty sure that Tamiya's manual has an error. It suggests to paint it X-7 which will result in shade similar to car body. As you may see on the pics it is different. I think that Tamiya is about right in case of Raybrig version not ARTA. I used Gunze Whine Red. The lights will be toned down with clear red. Next details: tow hooks Front - real car. It seems that both PE and box part are not 100% accurate in case of front hook. I will try to modify box part and will see. I not sure whether is worth that hassle |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Now it is time for sanding. I want decal edges to be invisible on finished model. So, I will sand down whole body and recoat. I am still between two minds - final coat of heavy thinned 2K or regular 1K? How do you think?
Rear wing sanded and recoated with Gunze CL184. You may see decal in varnich structure but the surface is even as I wanted. |

Re: ARTA NSX 2005 - Tamiya - 1/24
Very nice and clean work. Sweet!
For the final clear coat i'd go for 2K...and then sand and polish it. I know that some people get a very nice finish with a final wet coat of clear but for me that never works :-) |

Jaykay - I should read your message before I started painting... Disaster strikes hard:
If I manage to get out of this troubles without repainting and redecaling the whole body I will buy myself BIG vodka. |
