I think you need to drive the Z06 and see which BMW can actually out handle that car

You are comparing two different types of cars here. M5 is a great car but it's still a sedan... May be M5 if both cars have five people inside.

You seem to be sterotypical about american cars. The Z06 is a vette that is tuned for the track. It's lap times compare to a 911 turbo. The M5 is fast, but cant take on a Z06 stock vs stock.

,...

well, zo6= about 60k
m5 is gonna be well over 100k$, especially the new one.

I would go with the m5, its a bit slower, but come on, its a bmw m5. I see 10 z06 corvettes a day, i see maybe 2 e39 m5's a month

I'll tell ya one thing, even if the vette does handle better, which i think it does, its not by much, and, I would much rather see an m5 sitting in my garage than a Z06. And the older ones were not over 100k, they were more like 75-80k.

Are we talking about handling on the street, a curvy mountain road
or at track, like Sebring or Road Atlanta?

M5 vs. Z06...totally different animals. If you are planning to 'track'
the car, then the Z is the way to go.

If you have no inclination of ever tracking the car, and you want
the epitome of the 4-door sedan benchmark performance, then the M5
is your car. I've tracked my C5 Coupe almost 12-times and have yet to
see an M5(plenty of M3's).

I have 2 in my neighborhood and a woman drives one.

Of course, heaven would be to own both.

Re: What handles better a M5 or a Z06 Corv

it would make more sence to compare z06 to M3CSL, M5 on the other hand should be compared to sth like cadillac sts-v and in both cases the germans would win hands down.

The Z06 would likely handle better.

Here is information on the new 2006 Corvette Z06:

The 2006 Cadillac STS-V won't match the new M5, but at least the STS is no longer fwd. Here is information on the new STS-V:

The Corvette has its own Chief Engineer.

The C5 Z06 currently dominates SCCA T1.

http://scca.com/

Jan Magnussen drove a new Corvette Z06 at the Nurburgring in 7:43. He was one of the drivers of the Corvette C6-R that won its class (GT1) at the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 2005 Petit Le Mans. Petit Le Mans is a 10 hour/1,000 mile race at Road Atlanta.

Re: What handles better a M5 or a Z06 Corv

what do you mean by handling? maximun lateral G's? or turn in? the Z06 would probly win in turn in because it has a shorter wheelbase and is designed to turn in sharply. and i know the Z06 wins the lateral g with nearly 1 G, and the M5 has only .89(according to Car and Driver)

Re: What handles better a M5 or a Z06 Corv

Judging by the date of when this was originaly posted, Im guessing you mean the previose models of both cars. No there is no competition between the two cars. One is a heavy sedan that can peform like a sports car and made to have luxury, creature comforts, and carry 5 heads, while the other is made for one thing and one thing only. Which do you think would win? Ya'll need to stop having these hates towards cars according to the countries their from. It makes no sense.
