62 Gt Hawk
Just traded for 62 GT with 78,000 miles has been sitting a few years...Has 289 engine is it related to Ford's 289? Master Cylinder cap is stripped, should I rebuild or replace MC ?
2 brl Carb needs rebuilt or replaced is it a Stromberg? Has a 2 speed trans don't know much about...are they durable? Has factory air but no belt on compressor. Has single exhaust, thought all Hawks were dual. Brake booster looks like something from outer space, is it vacuum controlled? What after market wheels will work? Originally I was going to install a Ford big block, but this car is in very decent condition so I may install a 4 brl, headers & duals and leave it at that...although 3 2s may be cute, all thoughts ideas & suggestions appreciated. Glad I just joined AF. The Studebaker V8 was made in 50 or 51. It has a high nickel content block that was used until the 1964 model year. They are not Ford engines. They compete very well at Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags or you can modify them to get over 500hp from the 304cu inch block. The trans is a three speed with second gear start. Parts are readily available. The Studebaker Drivers Club has over 13,000 members.
