Noisy Power Steering....

I just did the worst job of my life....changing the power steering lines (both) in a Concorde with a 2.7....don't want to do that again!
Anyhow, also put a new power steering pump in and checked the reservoir screen to make sure it wasn't plugged....it looked good.
I did not replace the return line from the cooler, but checked it for soft spots (none) and also flow checked it (good flow.)
I filled it with synthetic ATF+4, and did the standard bleeding of the system lock to lock about a dozen times....
The damn thing whines like the pump is empty or almost empty, and the fluid returning to the reservoir seems like it's airated until the fluid warms up, then the air bubbles disappear and the noise quiets considerably but doesn't completely disappear.

A few questions....

1. In the reservoir, is there a filter below the coarse plastic screen just prior to entry into the pump?

2. Are rebuilt pumps reliable....have you had a bad one?

3. New hoses, new pump, new syn fluid, good flow on the return line, reservior screen seems clean, system has been bled,.........Any suggestions??

Re: Noisy Power Steering....

The new pump was bad, it started putting metal flakes into the P/S fluid. So I yanked the new pump, got a new reservoir from mopar and reinstalled the old pump.
It's much quieter now, only slightly noisy when the fluid is cold (-15c) and then quiets down once the fluid warms up, not purfect but good enough for an older car.

The old reservior wasn't letting the fluid flow through the screen even though it looked relatively clean.....
